Colleen Duggan

Colleen is a certified Iyengar teacher who has been studying yoga since the early 1990’s throughout Asia, Europe and U.S. She has been teaching locally in Camden and Islesboro since relocating here in 2001 to start a family.  Colleen is dedicated to the Iyengar method of yoga which focuses on alignment and precision in the poses.  She became fully certified as an Iyengar teacher in 2010, a process that took over 6 years.   The Iyengar certification is rare among yoga teachers as the training and testing is so rigorous and demanding, taking many years to complete.  Part of the Iyengar method is that all teachers continue as life long learners on the yoga path studying under more senior instructors, always deepening their understanding of yoga.  As well as traveling to attend yoga workshops and trainings throughout the year, Colleen commutes regularly to Cambridge Massachusetts to study with her mentor, Patricia Walden.  She also travels every other year to Pune, India to study directly with the Iyengar family for one or two months.

Along her Yogic path, she has continued her studies with various teachers and lineages of Yoga, including Ashtanga, Iyengar and Anusara.  Denyse is currently teaching weekly Vinyasa flow classes, monthly partner yoga workshops, and at retreats for veterans and their spouses.  Also an African dance instructor to adults and children, she is a member of Djump! an African drum and dance ensemble here in the mid coast. The focus for her group classes is to safely build the heat in the body, via a wide variety of ever-changing sequences, enabling the muscles to more easily relax and then lengthen.

Jarica Weed

Jarica grew up in the fivetowns area and graduated from Camden Hills Regional High School in 2006. She went on to study for her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and is now in private practice in Rockport. While away at college Jarica experienced many stressors and life changes and during that time found Zumba!

Jarica found that Zumba was fun for everyone and a great way to boost the happy-making chemicals in her brain, without the challenges that come along with getting to the gym!

In 2012, after moving back to the area, Jarica decided she would need to bring affordable Zumba to the area.

Finally, in 2015 Jarica became a Licensed Zumba Instructor as part of a long and daunting journey of self discovery and actualization. For Jarica, Zumba isn’t just about a physical workout and burning calories; it’s a mental and emotional gift that students give themselves each time they attend class.

Jarica is pleased and grateful to partner with High Mountain Hall to bring more Zumba to the community!
