Dance Nia for Good

“An emotional fitness odyssey, Nia is just plain exhilarating” – The New York Times “This lyrical, dance-like routine is deceptively powerful, delivering a high-powered workout that will leave you strong and centered.”—Health magazine Bring forth your inner Dancer, Warrior, and Healer. Experience the Joy of Movement through this sensory-based technique combining dance, martial, and healing arts. With the philosophy “Through Movement We Find Health,” this body-centered practice empowers people to achieve well being by connecting body, mind, emotions, and spirit and creating a loving relationship with the body. This relationship is fostered by each participant’s attention to the Voice of The Body to discover The Body’s Way, the innate intelligence of their own body. Following self-guidance, Nia is adaptable to any age or fitness level. Choreographed, hour-long, low-impact classes are done barefoot to music using a unique combination of 52 moves that deliver cardiovascular, whole-body conditioning and correspond to the main areas of the body: the base, core, and upper extremities. Personal expression is encouraged. Through Nia practice, you learn to foster awareness of your life through physical sensation, allowing the Voice of The Body to direct your actions and choices, leading to a general state of what Nia calls Dynamic Ease. Step into your own joyful journey with Nia, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think, and live.

New Moon Movement Circle

In 2012 New Moon Movement Circles will draw people together to explore thru dance, discussion & depth how everything is connected. There is an inherent wholeness and an intimate relationship between the cosmos and everyday life. We will focus on new moon cycles that help us to remember that everything is changing. The year 2012 will be one of the most important in human history. We are immersed in a greatly accelerated time of change, which challenges us to incorporate new views, both for ourselves and of the world we live in. The ending of one Age and the beginning of the next is happening moment by moment, breath by breath, heart by heart. How we experience and express this juncture depends on our willingness to open, expand and change. We are all in this together. Everyone counts, everything matters. What are your hopes and dreams?

SWEAT YOUR PRAYERS™

SWEAT YOUR PRAYERS™ are regular local gatherings where people come together to practice the 5Rhythms moving meditation. Participants follow their own movement impulse through 5Rhythms (flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness), and are free to move alone or with others. Providing only minimal instruction or guidance, the 5Rhythms teachers who offer SWEAT YOUR PRAYERS™ are trained to catalyze movement primarily through music. While everyone is welcome, we highly recommend having an understanding of the 5Rhythms practice before attending Sweat Your Prayers.
